Tennis Experience:
Mike has been playing the sport of tennis since the age of 7. He was a highly ranked junior player in USTA’s Middle State’s Section and trained with John Evert of the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, Florida.
Mike played NCAA Division I tennis for The George Washington University of the Atlantic-10 conference. He started in singles and doubles for a team that placed 2nd every year in the conference during his tenure.
Teaching
Experience:
Mike is a USPTA certified professional. He began teaching tennis at the age of 16 and accumulated 8 years of teaching experience before joining Tennis for Life in March 2005.
Mike worked as the assistant Tennis Professional at Rolling Hills Country Club in Pittsburgh, Pa for 3 years helping establish a competitive junior program to compete with other tennis clubs in the area. He taught clinics and private lessons, directed junior club matches, and hosted adult league nights.
Mike also worked as a supervisor for the Upper St. Clair Recreation Department Golf and Tennis Division, in Pittsburgh, Pa for 3 years. His duties included overseeing indoor/outdoor court maintenance, court scheduling, and overall facility management.
Highlights:
Since joining Tennis for Life, Mike has focused his attention on the Oconee Tennis Program. In the fall of 2006 he helped the Oconee division develop and expand the existing junior training program. We are excited to see it grow into a highly competitive program in the upcoming years. Mike is delighted to continue his teaching career as head instructor for the Oconee division.
