JUNIOR PROGRAMS
LI'L STARS (5-6 yrs): Red Ball. 36' court. 21-23" racquet: This program will introduce the little player to the game of tennis in a fun and rewarding way. All fundamental strokes will be taught using small racquets and red balls on special 36ft courts with a smaller net size. This program will focus on gross motor skills, coordination, judgment, basic stroke mechanics, and having fun, fun, and fun! (Schedule)
SHINING STARS I (7- 8 yrs): Red Ball. 36' court. 21-23" racquet. TFL’s introductory level tennis clinic designed to give the student an overall exposure to the sport of a lifetime. Points of emphasis of instruction include teaching self feeding, groundstrokes, volley, serves as well as tracking the ball. Sportsmanship, basic rules, and scoring are taught. Every clinic includes fun games and relays! (Schedule)
SHINING STARS II (7-8 yrs): Orange Ball. 60' court. 25" racquet. This program involves greater focus on combining different shots, rallying with the instructor as well as other players. Moving to the ball, tracking skills and footwork are emphasized. Serving is reviewed and return of serve is introduced. Scoring is reviewed and more rules introduced. Cooperative games and competitive games will be played. (Schedule)
SHINING STARS-ELITE (8&U): Red Ball. 36' court. 21-23" racquet. This program is for the young tennis player who is enjoying the sport, is enthusiastic and is ready to compete! Clinics will include continued development of technical skills, top spin and proper grips for different strokes will be introduced. Self-feeding and rallying skills required. Players are strongly encouraged to play 8&under COTA matches. COTA match fee and USTA membership is required. (Schedule)

FUTURE STARS II (9-10 yrs): Orange Ball. 60' court. 25" racquet. This program involves preparing the player for match play. Self-feeding and rallying is emphasized. Serving is reviewed, return of serve and playing out singles and doubles points are experienced. There is a greater focus on combining different shots. Learning how to lob and hit an overhead is taught. Serving is reviewed and return of serve is introduced. Scoring is reviewed, more rules are introduced and court is etiquette explained. FUTURE STARS Elite (10&U): Orange Ball. 60' court. 25" racquet. This program is for the experienced, committed and enthusiastic young player. Clinics will include continued development of technical skills, proper grips and topspin. Continental grips for serving a requirement. Consistent self-feeding and the ability to rally is a must. TFL SUPERVISED MATCH PLAY FOR 10& Unders: Orange Ball. 60' court. 25" racquet. For 10 & unders who are currently participating in the Future Stars Elite program and have no COTA league match play experience. TFL is launching this new program as a learning tool for inexperienced 10& unders who would like to play matches and compete. Stacey will lead this program on the new 60'dedicated courts. (Schedule)
FUTURE STARS III (11-12 yrs): Green Ball. 78' court. 25-27" racquet. This is for the Beginner or Advanced Beginner. It is a fast track course to introduce these young students to all the basic strokes, simple rules, sportsmanship and court etiquette. Cooperative skill building techniques, competitive games will be used. “Skills-Drills-Thrills” will be a repeated focus throughout this program. (Schedule)
BEGINNER TEEN TENNIS: Green/Yellow Ball. 78' court. 27" racquet.This program is for the teen player with limited experience who is working on getting the ball in play. This is an accelerated introductory course that gives the novice player the skill, confidence and knowledge to begin playing doubles and enjoy the sport of a lifetime. (Schedule)
~Academy Program~
PRE-ACADEMY (11-12 yrs): Green Ball. 78' court. 25-27" racquet. Middle school players who have successfully graduated from Future Star Elite or Future Stars III. A strong emphasis is placed on player to player groundstroke rallying. Players are expected to execute strokes with proper technique and grips in order to achieve consistency. Cooperative drills and competitive games will be used. Mental toughness is introduced. On court conditioning is increased. COTA matches are required. Match Fee and USTA membership is separate. A player must consistently display a good work ethic and a positive attitude to be promoted to Tennis Academy. (Schedule)
JUNIOR ACADEMY / JA (13-17 yrs): Yellow Ball. 78' court. 27" racquet. High school players who have successfully graduated from Pre-Academy. Please see description above (Pre-Academy) for class description. (Schedule) | Tournament Schedule
TENNIS ACADEMY / TA (13-14 yrs): ): Yellow Ball. 78' court. 27" racquet. Middle Schoolers who are serious tennis players and are striving to play High School Varsity team tennis. COTA league matches and USTA tournament events are required. The main focus of TA is to maintain a high level of consistency in hitting and conditioning. Court presence, point development, match play strategy and mental toughness are all major focal points of this program. Challenge matches required to be promoted to TATT in addition to a stellar attitude and work ethic.(Schedule)
TENNIS ACADEMY TOURNAMENT TRAINING / TATT (13-17 yrs): Yellow Ball. 78' court. 27" racquet. The highest level of junior clinic offered by TFL. This program is designed for the student focused on playing High School Varsity Tennis and achieving a state or sectional USTA ranking. An elite level of match play strategy, court awareness and physical/mental conditioning displayed at all times. (Schedule)
