Southeast Clarke Park Tennis Program


LIL' STARS: This program will introduce the little tennis player to the game of tennis in a fun and rewarding way. All fundamental strokes will be taught using small racquets and foam balls on special 36ft courts. The class will focus on hand-eye coordination as it relates to tennis and there will be lots of games. Students are encouraged to attend twice weekly. (schedule)

SHINING STARS (Beginner/Beginner Intermediate): An introductory tennis clinic designed to give students an overall exposure to playing the sport of tennis. Fundamental strokes, sportsmanship, footwork, scoring and match play are introduced through fun games and specialty relays. This class is for Beginners who have little or no experience through Beginner/Intermediates who are beginning to hit the ball back and forth over the net with a partner. The lessons will be conducted on a 36ft court. The Shining Stars replace Star 1 and Star 2. Students are encouraged to attend twice weekly. (schedule)

FUTURE STARS (Beginner/Intermediate) : In this class, the basic strokes are reviewed with an emphasis placed on footwork, combining shots and keeping the ball in play back and forth over the net. Students will be taught tennis scoring and match play will be introduced. The class will be conducted on a 60ft court. The Future Stars replace Star 2 and Star 3. Students are encouraged to attend twice weekly. (schedule)

QUICKSTART TENNIS CHALLENGE (QSTC) :A beginner junior league played on 36ft and 60ft court sizes with transitional tennis balls. This is a great introduction to tennis league competition for the young, novice junior player. Students will compete in an instructional environment. Students must be currently enrolled in the instructional program to participate in QSTC. Parent volunteers will be needed . (schedule)

STAR 4 PROGRAM (Intermediate): This class is for students who can rally, serve and keep score. They have played in 36ft and/or 60ft "QuickStart Competitions". PLayers are ready for tougher competition. Students are placed on a team and compete with other juniors in the Athens areaon a regular 78ft court. Improving tennis skills will be the main focus, as well as developing life success skills. Wonderful preparation for middle and high school tennis team. For 10 - 16 yr olds. Classes divided by age. TENNIS ACADEMY (TA) (Advanced Intermediate): This class is for students who are playing high school tennis or involved in league play and USTA tournaments. The TA is an honor at Tennis for Life. Participating in the TA is an earned position and players must be invited to join by a pro or receive an on court evaluation. Call (706) 613-3592 if you are unsure if TA is for you. The TA player will develop solid technique on all strokes. Tennis practices will become tougher and more demanding. Mental toughness, strategy, point development, shot selection and footwork will be the focal points of this program. Competing in tournaments is encouraged. (A Year In The Academy) |
