Junior Tennis Hierarchy & Promotion Chart

LIL STARS (5- 6 yrs): This program will introduce the little player to the game of tennis in a fun and rewarding way. All fundamental strokes will be taught using small racquets and foam balls on special 36ft courts. This program will focus on gross motor skills, coordination, judgment, basic stroke mechanics, and having fun, fun, and fun!(schedule)

SHINING STARS (7- 10yrs): For the Beginner player who has little or no experience and the Beginner/Intermediate who is beginning to rally the ball with a partner.  Fundamental strokes, sportsmanship, footwork, scoring and match play are introduced through fun games on a 36ft court. (schedule)

SHINING STARS ELITE (7- 8 yrs):For the student who has taken a minimum of 12 weeks of lessons or is recommended by the pro. This student is beginning to rally the ball with a partner. Fundamental strokes will continue to be emphasized and the addition of sportsmanship, footwork drills, scoring and match play introduced through fun games on a 36ft tennis court. 8&U COTA tennis league match play required - start date and match fee TBA.(schedule)

FUTURE STARS (11-15 yrs) : For Beginner/Intermediate players, the basic strokes are reviewed using a 60ft court with an emphasis on footwork, combining shots and keeping the ball in play back and forth over the net.  Students will be taught tennis scoring and match play will be introduced.(schedule)

FUTURE STARS ELITE (10&U) Must be RECOMMENDED or EVALUATED by a tennis pro.  For the experienced, committed and enthusiastic young player.  Technical, rallying and ball tracking ball skills will be developed using transitional balls and 60’court. Competitive games, footwork and conditioning are increased.  Players are required to play COTA Quick Start Tennis League.  Match fee and USTA membership required.(Schedule)

QUICKSTART TENNIS LEAGUE : A beginner junior league played on 36ft and 60ft court sizes with transitional tennis balls. This is a great introduction to tennis league competition for the young, novice junior player. Students will compete in an instructional environment. Students must be currently enrolled in the instructional program to participate. Parent volunteers will be needed.

JUNIOR ACADEMY / 9-17 yrs: This program strongly emphasizes player-to-player groundstroke rallying and execution of strokes with proper technique in order to achieve consistency.  Players will participate in local league matches and entry level tournaments. (schedule) |

TENNIS ACADEMY / TA (9-17 yrs): Designed for the serious player striving for a state ranking and participation in varsity high school tennis. The main focus of TA is to maintain a high level of consistency in hitting and conditioning.  Court presence and match play strategy are also major focal points of the clinic (schedule) .
